Kuohun Kirkas® has a long and exciting history

from the year of 1970 when a finnish construction chief Esa Vaherto bought a land to store his construction machinery and equipment in town of Kuohu, Finland. Soon he found out that under his boots, below the surface, there were actually a huge cave system made by the ice age thousands of years ago. Astonished Esa started to investigate these caves and found out that it hide in multiple natural ground water sources. He then took plenty of water samples and brought them quickly into a national laboratory to find out if the water was good enough for drinking.

And yes it was.

Soon he made his first water well in Kuohu for his own needs and realised

that the water actually had flown 47meters way down, deep below the surface.

And through multiple ground layers. Because of this, the water was very pure & crystal clear and this was shown in many test results. Many of his friends and colleagues that tasted the water, started to beg for more. And because even more and more people started to ask about the water, Esa decided to leave aside his construction works and focus only on the fresh drinking water.

And so, as the first bottled natural water ever in Finland, he gave the water a name Kuohun Kirkas which means Kuohu's Bright in english. The water was so pure and unique that it won the silver medal in the Berkeley Springs International Water Tasting Competition held in the West Virginia, USA in 2005. It was chosen to be the best natural drinking water in the Europe, from the heart of forested Finland!
